Sunday School

Christian Education is offered for all children, birth to fifth grade every Sunday. Scroll down this page to see the offerings listed according to your child’s age.

Nursery (birth to 2 years old)
We include the nursery on our Sunday school page, because we believe that children begin learning about God and themselves almost as soon as they are born. Am I safe? Am I loved? Are my needs met? These are theological as well as practical questions, and our nursery staff will help children answer them through their loving attention.

Our nursery is staffed by a retired couple named Charles and Mary Gindhart. They have cared for our youngest for nearly 20 years, and love them like their own. The nursery is open from 9:15 am to noon every Sunday.

To reach the nursery from the parking lot, enter the building through the wooden, double doors. Once inside, you will descend the stairs by a mural with animals and people on it. Once at the bottom of the stairs, the nursery is the second door on your left. If you have questions about the nursery, please contact Pastor Rob by e-mail at rob@wallingfordpres.org or phone (610-566-1644 ext 13).

Pre-School Sunday School
During the school year (the Sunday after Labor Day through the Sunday before Memorial Day) our pre-school Sunday school meets from 9:30-10:30 am. The children spend the first portion of the hour playing with the toys in the room. At this age, children learn much through play, and Sunday school is no exception. They will learn to play together, to share with one another, and to put toys away at the end of play time. Then, the kids will sing a few songs together. Next, they will hear a bible story. The hour will end with a short coloring/craft time.

If you would like, you can drop your child off on your way to 9:30 worship or to a 9:30 Adult Sunday School class. To reach the pre-school Sunday school room from the parking lot, enter the building through the wooden, double doors. Once inside, you will descend the stairs by a mural with animals and people on it. Once at the bottom of the stairs, the Sunday school room is the fourth door on your right. We understand that sometimes children are anxious the first few times they come to a new classroom. You are welcome to remain with your child for the first few weeks, until he or she has adjusted to the new teachers, friends, and surroundings.

You can pick your child up at 10:30 am. Should the 9:30 worship service run over, you needn’t worry, the teachers will stay with the children until you arrive to pick your child up. Should you have any questions about Sunday school, please contact our children’s ministry chairperson, Jeni Albany by e-mail (jenialbany@yahoo.com) or phone (610-565-2230).

K-2nd Grade Sunday School
During the school year (the Sunday after Labor Day through the Sunday before Memorial Day) our K-2nd grade Sunday school meets from about 9:45-10:30 am. All elementary-aged children begin in the sanctuary at the 9:30 am worship service with their parents. After about 15 minutes of singing, prayer, and scripture, the children are invited up to the front of the sanctuary for a short lesson from one of the pastors. Then, the children are led downstairs to their classroom by one of their teachers.

Once downstairs, all elementary-aged children gather in the music room to sing, and hear the day’s scripture lesson read and explained. After this, the children are split into two classes: K-2nd grades and 3rd-5th grades. The K-2nd grade students go to their own classroom to talk more about how the lesson applies to their lives and create a craft in response to the lesson.

You can pick your child up at 10:30 am. Should the 9:30 am worship service run over, you needn’t worry, the teachers will stay with the children until you arrive to pick your child up. To reach the K-2nd grade Sunday school room, exit the front of the sanctuary, and descend the stairs immediately to your right. At the bottom of the stairs, turn right, and follow the hallway nearly to its end. The K-2nd grade classroom is the third to last door on your left.

We understand that sometimes children are anxious the first few times they come to a new classroom. You are welcome to join your child’s class for the first few weeks, until he or she has adjusted to the new teachers, friends, and surroundings.
