Middle School Students in Sunday Worship
During the school year (the Sunday after Labor Day through the Sunday before Memorial Day), we have worship services at 9:30 and 11:00 am. Children, youth, and adults of any age are welcome to join us in worship at either of these worship services. In each service, we sing hymns, pray aloud and silently, and listen to a sermon. On the first Sunday of the month, we share communion together, with juice and bread. Children and youth are welcome to participate in communion once their parents think they are ready.
We know that teens and tweens sometimes have a tough time focusing during worship. Their response to worship is often inconsistent – one moment they appear focused and engaged, while the next they are staring at the ceiling or drawing on the bulletin. But that’s okay! In fact, it’s the best way to become engaged in worship – by being exposed to it and encouraged to join in it over time. We believe that even during the times when teens and tweens don’t seem to be engaged, they are still learning. They are learning about who they are and who God is, and they are being shaped by the experience of worship. Because of this, we are always glad to have them worshipping with us.
