Children

First Time Visitors to Wallingford Presbyterian Church

Most people’s first experience with WPC happens on Sunday morning. We have Sunday morning worship services at 9:30 and 11 am. Each service lasts one hour.

Children birth to two years old
If you have children under the age of two, you have several options for your children.  Children of all ages are always welcome in worship (see our Children in Worship  page), and we are happy for you to keep your children with you during either of the two services. If you prefer, we also have childcare provided by two loving attendants in our nursery. (A retired couple named Charles and Mary Gindhart have cared for our youngest for nearly 20 years. You’ll love them!) Childcare is provided from 9:15 am to noon every Sunday. To reach the nursery from the parking lot, enter the building through the wooden, double doors. Once inside, you will descend the stairs by a mural with animals and people on it. Once at the bottom of the stairs, the nursery is the second door on your left.

Children two years old to pre-schoolers
During the school year (the Sunday after Labor Day through the Sunday before Memorial Day), our pre-school Sunday school meets from 9:30 to 10:30 am. You can learn more about their Sunday school here. To reach the pre-school Sunday school room from the parking lot, enter the building through the wooden, double doors. Once inside, you will descend the stairs by a mural with animals and people on it. Once at the bottom of the stairs, the Sunday school room is the fourth door on your right. We do not have childcare for children over the age of two during the 11 am worship service. However, your children are always welcome to join you in worship (see our Children in Worship page).

Children in kindergarten to second grade
During the school year (the Sunday after Labor Day through the Sunday before Memorial Day), our K-2nd grade Sunday school class meets from 9:30-10:30 am. All elementary aged children begin in the sanctuary with their parents. They stay in worship for a song, a few prayers, and a scripture reading. Then, they are invited up to the front of the sanctuary for a short lesson from one of the pastors. After this, they are guided downstairs for Sunday school. You can learn more about their Sunday school here.

After the worship service, you will find your children in their classroom downstairs. Exit the front of the sanctuary, and descend the stairs immediately to your right. At the bottom of the stairs, turn right, and follow the hallway nearly to its end. The K-2nd grade classroom is the third to last door on your left.

After 9:30 worship, you and your children are welcome to gather for fellowship (and, as importantly, cookies) in fellowship hall, back upstairs.

We do not have childcare for children over the age of two during the 11 am worship service. However, your children are always welcome to join you in worship (see our Children in Worship page).

Children in second to fifth grades
During the school year (the Sunday after Labor Day through the Sunday before Memorial Day), our 3rd-5th grade Sunday school class meets from 9:30-10:30 am.

The 3rd-5th grade classroom is the final door on your left.
