Liz Braden
Elizabeth Braden has served as Director of Music at Wallingford Presbyterian Church for ten years. During that time, she has directed the Chancel Choir and Bell Choir, worked with children’s music ministry, and worked with members interested in starting a drama team. In addition to preparing all the music for the weekly worship services, Liz has also worked hard to present a series of concerts and events open to the community, encouraging Wallingford’s presence in the community. These include performances of Amahl and the Night Visitors, Godspell, Choral Concerts, and our annual Messiah Sing. This year, upcoming Music Ministry offerings include three Taize Prayer Services (one in October, one in January, and one in March); a concert in November, and a Coffee House featuring the talented members of WPC in February.
In addition to serving at WPC, Liz is also the Chorus Master at the Opera Company of Philadelphia where she has worked for five seasons on such operas as Aida, Porgy and Bess, Madama Butterfly, and Turandot. Liz has also prepared choirs in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Ballet in performances of Carmina Burana and Messiah.
Liz is a graduate of West Chester University, where she received a degree in Music Education with a concentration in piano and voice, and of Westminster Choir College of Rider University where she earned a Master’s Degree in Choral Conducting. Liz lives in South Philadelphia with her partner Denine and her 13-year old Jack Russel Terrier Hamlet.
