Liz Braden is the one in the picture with the red head band. She has been the Director of Music at Wallingford Presbyterian Church since 1999, during which time she has had the pleasure to work for many talented singers and instrumentalists in growing the music ministry. On a weekly basis, the chancel choir and bell choir can be heard providing music during Sunday worship. Throughout the year, many other events strive to bring music and the arts into the life of the congregation, ranging from the annual Messiah Sing to a Talent Night to a fully staged production of the musical Godspell. Another important facet of the music ministry is our monthly Taize Prayer Services, offering an alternate time and format for contemplative and peaceful worship and prayer. Recently a children’s choir has started, and we’re happy to be training up the next generation of church musicians.
When Liz isn’t at WPC, she can be found at Opera Philadelphia where she is the Chorus Master. In that venue, Liz prepares the chorus for all of the Opera’s productions. Recent seasons have includied well known favorites like La Boheme, The Barber of Seville, and Carmen as well as new operas like Ricky Ian Gordon’s A Coffin in Egypt and Theo Morrison’s Oscar. Liz has also prepared choruses for productions at the Curtis Opera and the Pennsylvania Ballet. She is a graduate of West Chester University and Westminster Choir College. Liz resides in Collingswood, NJ with her partner, Denine, and their son Nate.
