Paul Rhebergen


Pastor Paul Rhebergen

Paul was raised in upstate New York.  He graduated from Lafayette College in 1973 with an A.B. in Religion, and from Andover-Newton Theological School in 1976 with a Master of Divinity. Paul has served the church as a pastor for more than thirty years, in a variety of settings and church cultures, from small yoked-congregations to head of staff in larger congregations; in rural, urban and suburban communities. He ha served for 22 years as an intentional interim pastor, and has worked with the Committee on Ministry or Congregational Development Committee in six different presbyteries. With training and experience in conflict resolution, ministry following clergy misconduct, and ministry following long term pastors, Paul has served as a “tethered interim” in New Jersey since 1993. Paul is part of the IMET/Consortium which provides training in interim ministry for the Presbyterian Church (USA).

Paul is married to the Rev Marianne Okkema Rhebergen, who is currently serving as the Transitional Executive Presbyter of Cayuga-Syracuse Presbytery. They are the parents of three adult daughters: Deborah, Kristin and Rebecca. In his free time, Paul is an avid reader of mysteries and suspense, enjoys walking and hiking, has become proficient at home repair and enjoys traveling with Marianne.
