It’s that time of year again…time for the Christmas Pageant! This year we will be present-ing “A Simple Christmas Pageant” and children and youth of all ages are invited to participate and help us tell the Christmas Story. This year since Christmas Eve is a Sunday, we will be presenting the pageant at our regular 10:00 AM Worship Service.

Everyone who participates in the pageant will get to wear a costume and help lead the singing of several familiar Christmas Carols. Older children are also invited to be readers. We will have one introductory meeting at 4 PM on Sunday, December 3, where we will read through the Pageant, sing a few songs, and get fitted for costumes. Parents are invited to come to this meeting if they like; it will be held an hour before the Advent Festival, and everyone is invited to stay after the meeting to be part of the Advent festivities that begin at 5 PM.

After the first meeting, we will have one additional practice from 10 AM – 12 PM on Saturday, December 23. At our final practice we’ll run through the whole pageant twice – and take a snack break in the middle!

Children of all ages of are welcome, but we ask those younger than 4 to be accompanied by an adult or older sibling who will also be in costume to help them out. We can also use some parent help, particularly at the first meeting to help with costumes, and at the final practice to provide a snack and again help with costumes. If you can help out, please in-dicate that on the sign-up sheet.

We ask everyone who knows they want to participate to sign up ahead of time. Please use the attached sheet to sign-up. This year we’re asking people to let us know each child’s first two choices for costume/role. While we have lots of angel and shepherd cos-tumes, we can only have one Mary and one Joseph. If your child isn’t sure, don’t worry about it! We can help them decide at the first meeting. You can also indicate if your child would like to have a reading part – again, if you’re not sure, we can figure it out as we go.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Music Director Liz Braden at music@wallingfordpres.org or Pastor Taylor at pastortaylor@wallingfordpres.org. We hope you will join us for what is a wonderful way to celebrate Christmas – the Christmas Pageant!
