The Peacemaking and Social Justice committee will be presenting a series of discussions/lectures during Lent. We will meet at 11:30 AM, after worship and coffee. A light lunch will be served and child care will be available if requested.
The first subject will concern racism and will be based on an essay by Peggy McIntosh entitled “White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack”. We will be discussing our reactions to 50 statements that she published. For example, how would you respond to this statement: “I can talk with my mouth full and not have people put this down to my color”?

The first session will be held on March 5 and the second session on March 19. It not necessary to attend both. If you need child care, please contact the church office or Walt Kaminski.

On March 26, Alawa Gali and some of her relatives will talk about what it is like to be an immigrant in America, covering such topics as How did they get here?  How were they treated on arrival?  After they had been here for a year? What did they leave behind? More information will be available in coming weeks.

On April 2, Brian Miller from Heeding God’s Call will be here to tell his story, and invite us to join him in attempting to reduce gun violence. Whether you are a pro second amendment person or a gun control person, Brian’s story is worth hearing.
