This Friday, September 26th at 5:30 pm-7pm – “Race to Action: A Remembrance Event for Ferguson.” The event will begin with a march starting on the patio of Sharples beginning at 5:30 pm and will lead the group from Sharples through campus into the amphitheater. In the amphitheater a few community members will share their reflections, followed by an open period of reflection for anyone who feels moved to speak, and ending with a candle light vigil.

The recent tragic events in Ferguson, Missouri only serve to reinforce the pressing need to reflect as individuals and as a community. A group of students has been working hard over the last few weeks to organize this event to honor the memory of Michael Brown and many other victims over the years. This is a moment to come together and consider the implications of his shooting, how it affects us all, what it means about our society, and what we can and must do to interrupt this cycle of violence. We hope this event sparks many more important conversations and actions.
