Wallingford Pres will again be offering the Steadfast Hope I eight-week course on Wednesday evenings beginning March 13. Cost of the course is $10 which covers the cost of course materials. Payment can be made during the first night of class. This course consists of eight relatively independent modules, so, even if you can not attend all eight sessions, you will still be able to follow and participate in the course.

The focus of Steadfast Hope I is to provide a description of what the situation is like in Israel and Palestine as seen through the eyes of a Palestinian. Much of the news in the US is told through the eyes of the Israelis, so this will be a chance to hear a significantly different version of the same story. After you have heard both sides, then you will be better able to struggle with what is the “truth”.

For anyone who missed the Steadfast Hope II course given last year, Swarthmore Presbyterian Church will be conducting a mini version of Steadfast Hope II with an added third session that should be very lively and interesting.  Here is a copy of their announcement. Anyone is welcome to attend. For the February 10th and 17th sessions, they ask for pre-registration to ensure they have enough food.

The peacemaking committee will present a series of three Sunday evening supper programs on Israel and Palestine from 5:30 to 7:30 February 10, February 17, and a date to be announced in March. Food will be provided with contributions to cover costs welcomed. Please call 610-541-0113 or email dorothygelb@comcast.net to reserve a place.

February 10 – A film, Israel vs Israel, features four Israeli peace activists: a rabbi, a soldier, a grandmother, and an anarchist – four very different Israelis who share a common goal to achieve peace and end the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories.

February 17 — Two young Jewish women, Rebekah Rosenfeld and Jenny Rabinowich, will describe and show pictures of their Birthright Israel trip to Israel.

The third program will involve participation in a dinner conversation with good friends who hold sharply different views about the political situation in Israel and Palestine. Date to be announced.
