Child Abuse Mandatory Reporters’ Training – Feb. 23 @ 7:30 PM

Recent press coverage has reminded us again that adults who work with children and youth have both a moral and a legal requirement to report knowledge of abuse. These requirements affect all those who encounter children through their paid or volunteer work.  These individuals (including Sunday School teachers, Scout troop leaders, pastors, after school club staff, and youth ministry staff) are mandatory reporters.

In order to raise awareness of when to report, what to look for, and how to report, WPC is holding a seminar for all adults who work in our building with children and/or youth.  Leaders of both church programs and non-church programs have been asked to participate.   This seminar will be taught by a leading scholar of child abuse law and a leading legal advocate for abused children.  His name is Frank Cervone and he is the executive director of the Support Center for Child Advocates (a position which he has held for over a decade.)   Rob has attended one of his seminars and found that his presentation was very helpful.

The seminar will take place Thurs, Feb 23rd, from 7:30-9 pm in the Reception Room.  This will be an open event – anyone who works with children or youth and would like to attend is welcome to participate.  For more information, please contact Pastor Rob Ross at rob@wallingfordpres.org or 610-566-1644 ext 13.
