The adult forum begin a look at the Middle East on Sunday, October 3 at 9:30 AM with a 2 part discussion called Understanding Palestine. Following the Palestine discussions, will be a 2-part series on Understanding Israel to balance the Palestine series.    Our goal is not to master the details of the very complex political and religious conflicts, but to gain some insight into the situation from the perspective of Palestine and Israel, and to consider how we, as Christians, should try to understand the conflict.
The NPR web site has a lot of material on the history of the Middle east conflicts and can be accessed from here.
Everyone is welcome to come and join the discussion.  No prior knowledge is required.  If you want to get copies of the discussion materials prior to class, please contact Frank Noyes, leader of the Adult Forum.

The bottom line is this: There will be no peace until the Palestinian Authority and Hamas recognoze Israel’s right to exist and stop calling for the destruction of Israel. Israel gives up the Gaza Strip to a terrorist group and in return gets shelled with rockets into Israel. BTW, Hamas, Hezbolla, the Iranians, the Saudi’s don’t care about the Palestinians. They just use them as a pawnto attack Israel.

  2. Walt Kaminski says:

I agree that the Palestinians need to co-exist peacefully with the Israelis, but I think the problem originates with the Israeli usurpation/occupation of Palestine. Until the Israelis give up their sense of superiority and claim of uniqueness as a right to take over all of Palestine, there can be no peace.
